CYPRESS, Orange County — October 25, 2026. Cypress residents who need to dispose of bulky household belongings have an expanded free pickup program, but there is an important timing difference: the city says two free pickups are available for the remainder of 2026, while the full allowance of four pickups per calendar year begins in 2027.

Who can use the program?

The City of Cypress and its collection contractor Valley Vista Services extended the service to multi-family residences as well as single-family homes. Single-family customers may include up to 10 items per scheduled pickup. For multi-family residences, the city lists up to four items per unit per pickup, with scheduling coordinated through the property manager or homeowners’ association.

How to schedule the pickup

For single-family homes, the official city instructions offer three options: use Valley Vista’s online request page, email an itemized list to vvsbulky@myvvs.com, or telephone (800) 442-6454. The city advises scheduling at least 48 hours before the regular collection day.

Apartment and condominium residents should work through their manager or HOA rather than placing items at a curb without a confirmed appointment. Residents should check accepted-item restrictions before sending large appliances or anything potentially hazardous. An item that is too large for standard trash is not automatically permitted in the bulky program.

Why it matters

The city says the changes aim to improve access to disposal services while discouraging illegal dumping. A July 15 city announcement publicized the expansion; more detailed city recycling guidance clarifies the special 2026 allowance and the full 2027 benefit. That distinction means the public should not assume four free pickups remain available between now and December 31.
